Galvanotek faces its environmental responsibility with seriousness and commitment, through the Ecogalvanotek program. Our goal is to enable the sustainability of the plastic chain, both in the environmental, social and economic sphere.
Check out the amount of recycled and reused pet bottles this year:
Plastic is present in various segments of the economy, from clothing to hospital components, among others. Its benefits for the food industry, in the case of packaging, include the conservation of up to 90% of food, avoiding the waste of food which, according to the UN, reaches one-third of all world production. Without its use, it would increase the consumption of natural resources, the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, the waste of water, and even the price of most of the products consumed.
The reality of the human relationship with plastic negatively unfolds when it is associated with unconscious disposal. According to the Brazilian PNRS (National Plan of Solid Residues), although 30% of all the garbage produced in Brazil has recycling potential, only 3% is reused.
Recycling, through correct disposal, reduces waste, decreases environmental pollution, and allows the insertion of new products in the consumption chain without, for that, extracting new resources from nature, in this case, virgin raw material. Through recycling, the raw material that is transformed into a new product is recovered and revalued. Currently, Galvanotek, through specific processes, is one of the largest consumers of recycled raw material (resin) in Brazil, with about 800 tons per month - totaling 60% of all its consumption, thus contributing to environmental preservation.
PET, a type of polymer used in bottles and several Galvanotek packages, can be recycled countless times, ensuring its post-consumption reuse, including in new packages, through our multilayer technology. Its valorization can also guarantee a boost in the waste collection chain, adding value to its contributors' activity.
We believe that education is the best way to build a conscious society, turning degradation into a solution. A new perspective on the subject added to the change of daily habits can bring about significant, urgent, and necessary changes.
